It’s All Happening!
Extension
The extension has been formally handed over to the school so that it can now be furnished ready for opening after the Easter holiday, by which time the ramp at the main entrance will have been completed. The extension will be officially opened on Parents Evening, which is being rescheduled for the Wednesday after half term, when you will be offered a glass of wine on your arrival. You will also be invited to view the new rooms and in particular the foyer that will house a parents information area where you will be able to access up to date information about the school, community and partnership activities on a daily basis.

Replacement of Mobile Classrooms
Funding has now been secured and planning permission has been granted for demolition of the two mobile classrooms currently on the school site and for their replacement with two state of the art modular units that will provide additional teaching space for the school and community and extended services provision. The new units will include a large hall, male, female and accessible toilets, a meeting room and kitchen. Although the units will be blue when they arrive they will be painted green almost immediately to match the perimeter fencing and signage. The demolition of the existing mobiles will take place during the Easter holiday and the new units will be lifted onto the site during the May half term holiday.

The above projects represent an investment in excess of £300,000 in the school and the community and are the result of a great deal of hard work by everyone involved in the school.  In addition to use by the children as additional classroom space, possible uses of the new community facilities include:
·  on-site wrap around care   ·  adult learning classes   ·  youth clubs   ·  sports activities
·  Children’s parties  ·  PTA meetings   ·  Community group meetings  ·  Rainbows and Brownies
·  Parent Support Groups

I am sure that there are many more activities that you can think of and I would love to hear from you if there are. One activity that is already planned is a daily morning coffee time for parents who want to sit and chat with their friends after delivering their children to school !

Cycle Racks
I am delighted that children are once again starting to cycle to school, in spite of the inconvenience of the cycle racks being unavailable for use, and I am pleased to inform you that as a result of a successful bid for Travel Plan funding new cycle racks will be installed at both the side entrances to the school in addition to those already at the main entrance.

Development of School Gardens
As your children may have told you, we are in the process of bidding for further funding for the development of the three gardens in the school;
· The Kitchen Garden
· Mrs Campbell’s Memorial Garden (Sensory Garden)
· The Wildlife Garden

Development of the Wildlife Garden will of course coincide with the development of the village pond that we are keen for our children to be able to access, and I am delighted to attach a flyer from the pond committee about holiday events that are planned.
